Closing Statement of Juan A. Manigault

Kimberly and I thank all of our campaign volunteers and staff for the great job they did representing our campaign to the citizens of South Bend and others across our great State. We are also extremely grateful to the voters who chose my candidacy to support on November 6th .

It is always tough to not accomplish a goal, but the journey and effort of this season in our lives was tremendous. We had a great team of volunteers and paid staff! Special recognition goes to our campaign staff of Kevin Hughes, Brad Powlen, Lindsey Mustard, Brian Sikma, Erin Horvath, and Esther Lewis. We also thank our campaign committee, district coordinators, A-Team members, Democrats for Change members, the Fraternal Order of Police Post 36 for their endorsement and support, our vendors, Party Chairman Chris Riley, and Consultant Jim Banks.

There are many others who we appreciate and love for their volunteer efforts, financial contributions, prayer support and encouragement. Thank you all.

We have a great city with great people and many challenges ahead. Let's keep our heads up and commit ourselves to holding our elected officials accountable for the decisions they make as our representatives. Let's remember the key principles of the Republican Party that distinguish us from other political agendas: personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, human rights, free enterprise and smaller government. We were a team, a campaign made up of dedicated Republicans, Democrats and Independents working together to take back a city and do what's right for all.

Thus, we are interested in forming a South Bend Republican Committee to continue building a strong party committed to the principles listed above. We must have a strong local Republican Party to challenge the entrenched and indifferent activities of those currently in control of our city. Let us know if this is something you agree with and want to be a part of.

Finally, we thank God for the opportunity He provided us and to finish strong. May His blessings be upon you, our city, and our citizens now and in the future.
